So, you want to hear a story? I am not very good at telling them, but I'll try.
Lets see, I created my account at the end of 2008, in October if I am not mistaken. Back then it was purely for watching art. Sure, I was drawing then as well, but my drawings were mostly stick-men fighting on huge battlefields. Occasionally I drew something more complicated, but the thought of posting it online never crossed my mind.
Then came the year 2010. I was on a two week trip around Europe with my family and had an urge to draw something Mass Effect related. Tali was my first choice. I'll be honest, I was afraid that I would screw up and the result will be terrible, but I was determined and by the end of the trip I created my very first drawing that I later uploaded here.
(Tali'Zorah vas Normandy)
I really liked the result and decided to continue drawing more seriously. After that there was more fan art. Among those there was Veigar
. He is still one of my best ones I believe.

In the year 2012 I tried something new. Previously all my drawings were done on a tiny A7 format paper, this time I used A3. It took longer to draw, but the end result was definitely worth it, after all it was then that I created another one of my personal favourites.
After A3 it was hard going back to A7, so in 2013 I found a compromise and started drawing on A5. So far I'd say this is the best format for me. The drawing does not become tedious and there's enough room to draw tiny details, which I really love.
I bought a book called "Fantasy Artist's Figure Drawing Bible" and since then have been drawing characters inspired by those included in that book. Also, there's a lot of good references for poses among other things in there as well.
In the same year I created my first original character who is not based on any popular universes. His name is Irbryn Lhug. Say hello, Irbryn.
(This particular drawing is actually my latest, but it is more fitting.)
I have two other Mass Effect OCs that were created before Irbryn and I love them all equally, but let's be honest. If Mass Effect was never created, they would not exist.
Oh and it was the same year when I decided to get rid of my old username and officially change it to Dahgnear. I even created an avatar to go along with it.
(Yeah, I like wolves.)
Not much changed in 2014. Still drawing on A5 and using book mentioned above for references and inspiration. Though I believe that I am improving. Slowly, but it is happening.
What the rest of the year will bring, I can only guess, but as always we shall live and see.
(Just one more drawing that I wanted to share.)
Lastly, along the way I met some people, who I now consider friends. I am very lucky and thankful to have met them and it was all possible thanks to DeviantART, so thank you as well dA and happy birthday!
